Health & Safety
Do any Fee Brothers products contain common ALLERGENS?
While most Fee Brothers products do not contain any of the FDA’s “Big 9” allergens (i.e., soy, wheat, dairy, peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish, egg, sesame), there are a few exceptions listed below:
Fee Brothers Black Walnut Bitters contains the tree nut allergen (walnut) as classified by the FDA. Additionally, this product contains sulphites as a preservative.
Additionally, the following Fee Brothers products contain the dairy allergen (milk) as classified by the FDA:
- Daquiri Mix
- Margarita Mix
- Swee-Tart Mix
- Whiskey Sour Mix
- Post Mix Margarita
- Post Mix Sour
Are Fee Brothers products KOSHER?
At this point, most of our products have been certified Kosher by OK Kosher, except for the following:
- Celery Bitters
- Gin Barrel-Aged Orange Bitters (not to be confused with our West Indian Orange Bitters)
- Swee-Tart Mix
- Olive Brine
We also have a few products which are Kosher-Dairy:
- Daquiri Mix
- Whiskey Sour Mix
- Margarita Mix
- Post Mix Margarita
- Post Mix Sour
That being said, it was only in June of 2022 that we went through the Kosher certification process, and we are still in the process of using up some of our old labels—the labels without the Kosher symbol on them—before we begin using our newly-printed labels with the Kosher symbol on them.
If you look at the lot number on a Fee Brothers bottle, the first two numbers reflect the year in which that bottle was produced (e.g., If the lot number says 194930, that means that it was made in 2019). So if the lot number on a bottle begins with a “23,” that will indicate that the bottle was produced in 2023, well after our Kosher certification was in place. So aside from the products listed above, anything we bottled in 2023 will be Kosher certified. We’re on a trajectory to begin using the newly-printed kosher labels on all of our products by the end of this year.

We really appreciate your patience as we continue updating our labels to reflect our Kosher certifications!
Are Fee Brothers products GLUTEN-FREE?
Most of our offerings, including our bitters, cordial syrups, brines, botanical waters, and coffee flavorings, are certified gluten-free by Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG).
There are, however, two exceptions to this rule: Fee Brothers Swee-Tart Mix and Fee Brothers Olive Brine. These specific products are not certified gluten-free because they are produced and packaged in facilities separate from our main production facility and are outside of our certification.
It’s important to note that our certification occurred in November 2022. Due to our large stock of pre-printed labels, you may encounter some of our products that lack the gluten-free symbol. We are actively working on depleting our existing label stock without the symbol before transitioning to our newly printed labels, which prominently display the gluten-free symbol below:
Are Fee Brothers products VEGAN?
Most Fee Brothers products have been self-declared as vegan. However, it’s important to note that some specific products do contain dairy ingredients and therefore are not considered vegan. These products include:
- Swee-Tart Mix
- Daquiri Mix
- Whiskey Sour Mix
- Margarita Mix
- Post Mix Margarita
- Post Mix Sour
The determination of vegan status for our products is made internally through self-declaration, a standard practice within the food and beverage industry. Fee Brothers conducts a thorough review of documentation and certificates of analysis provided by each of our ingredient suppliers for every raw material utilized in our batch production process.
Do Fee Brothers bitters contain ALCOHOL?
While many bitters are spirits-based, Fee Brothers marches to the beat of a different drum. Our bitters are crafted with vegetable glycerin instead of spirits. Fun fact: this original recipe was how we survived Prohibition!
It’s important to note that while our bitters don’t contain alcohol spirits, the flavoring ingredients do contain alcohol essence the same way that vanilla extract contains alcohol essence.
Do Fee Brothers products have an EXPIRATION DATE?
You can tell when a product was made by the first two numbers of the lot number that is printed on the label (e.g., If the lot number says 224930, that means that it was made in 2022).
